Growing Strong In Faith | Part 1

May 13, 2026    Pastor Allen Bates

This powerful teaching on growing strong in faith challenges us to understand three critical dimensions of biblical faith that can transform our spiritual walk. First, we discover the timing of faith - that genuine faith operates in the present tense, not the future. When Mark 11:24 instructs us to believe we receive when we pray, it's calling us to a radical shift from hope to faith. Hope says 'I will have it someday,' but faith declares 'I have it now.' This isn't about denying reality but about believing God's Word above our circumstances. Second, we learn about the talk of faith - that God Himself calls things that do not exist as though they already do. Just as Abraham was renamed 'father of many nations' before Isaac was born, we're called to speak our faith even when nothing has manifested yet. This isn't lying; it's aligning our words with God's promises rather than our temporary circumstances. Finally, we face the test of faith - the inevitable battle in our minds between what we believe and what we see or feel. James warns us against wavering, because doubt-filled faith receives nothing. The victory comes when we cast down imaginations and hold fast to our confession of faith, regardless of how things appear. This message reminds us that faith isn't passive wishful thinking but an active, present-tense trust in God's Word that requires us to stand firm even when every natural indicator contradicts what we're believing for.
