1) At the return of Christ to earth, the saints come with Him; we don’t meet Him in the air.

2) Jesus promised believers Heaven.

3) We restrain evil and darkness as long as we are here!

Revelation 2:26
26And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Revelation 2:26 (KJV)
  • It is important for us to keep on living, speaking, and doing His works.
1 John 4:3-4
3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:3-4 (KJV)
  • Through Christ, we have already overcome.  God made a covenant with us that he will not break.  He is faithful to keep his promises.  We are of God, so we don’t have to worry as overcomers.
  • We are the seed of Abraham through Christ, so as long as we are here, we will be victorious.
Matthew 16:18
18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:18 (KJV)
  • Hell has no chance of overcoming the church of God.
1 Corinthians 10:32
32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
1 Corinthians 10:32 (KJV)
  • In the end times, God deals with 3 people groups, the Jews, the Gentiles, and the Christians.  As Christians, we are the redeemed ones through Christ.
Matthew 24:21-22
21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Matthew 24:21-22 (KJV)
  • During the tribulation, all hell will break loose.  Part of the reason is because the restraint in the world, the Christians, will be gone.
  • This will be a time when God’s judgement and wrath are poured out on the earth.
Romans 5:9
9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Romans 5:9 (KJV)
  • As Christians, we will avoid His wrath of the tribulation.
  • When the Bible talks about the coming of the Lord, it is 2 separate events.  One is when He meets us in the air, and the other is when he returns to earth.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (KJV)
  • These verses are referring to the catching away when all Christians, dead or alive, will be changed and take on our new bodies and meet the Lord in the air.  This will include all Christians who believed and accepted Christ as their Saviour at any time in history.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52
51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (KJV)
  • This also refers to the catching away of the Church when we will meet Jesus in the air.

1) At the return of Christ to earth, the saints come with Him; we don’t meet Him in the air. – TOP

  • At the second advent, when Jesus comes to earth, we will be coming with Him.  This is not the time of the catching away when we meet him in the air.
Jude 1:14-15
14And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
15To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
Jude 1:14-15 (KJV)
  • This verse clearly says that the Lord comes to execute judgement on the earth, and we as saints are coming with Him.  This is very different from Him coming back to take the redeemed.
Revelation 19:11-21
11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
17And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
Revelation 19:11-21 (KJV)
  • These verses are referring to the second advent when Christ returns to judge.  Anytime in Revelations that it says white clothes or white linens, it refers to the saints that were taken in the catching away.  It clearly says that we will be coming with Him.
  • These verses speak of a great battle that will take place at the second advent of Christ, and the redeemed that were taken in the catching away are coming with Him.
Zechariah 14:1-9
1Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
6And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
7But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
8And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.
Zechariah 14:1-9 (KJV)
  • In verse 1, it says the day of the Lord, and that refers to the second advent when Christ comes to rule and reign, and in verse 5, it says the saints are coming with God.
Zechariah 14:12-16
12And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
14And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.
15And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.
16And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zechariah 14:12-16 (KJV)
  • These verses are also referring to the great battle when Christ comes back to rule and reign.
  • There will be 2 different events of Christ coming back.  The first will be when the saints will be taken away and join Christ in the air.  The second will be when we come with him to fight.

2) Jesus promised believers Heaven. – TOP

  • Some teach that the catching away occurs, and then we turn around and come right down with Christ to the mount of olives.  They think that the catching away and the return to rule and reign happen at the same time.  That would mean that we miss heaven.
John 14:1-3
1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John 14:1-3 (KJV)
  • It is clear that Jesus has a plan for us to go to heaven.  He said that we would go where He is.
Acts 1:11
11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
Acts 1:11 (KJV)
  • This verse says that Jesus is in Heaven, and He said that we would go where he is.  There has to be 2 events so we can go there because He is going to rule and reign on earth when He comes at the end of the tribulation.
Revelation 4:1-4
1After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
2And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
3And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
4And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Revelation 4:1-4 (KJV)
  • Once again, Revelations refers to saints as clothed in white.  The 24 represents all of the saints.  In the Old testament, the entire priesthood has 24 priests.  In the New testament, there is 24 elders that represent the 12 tribes and the 12 apostles, so the 24 make the saints complete.
Revelation 19:1
1And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
Revelation 19:1 (KJV)
Revelation 19:6-9
6And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
7Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
9And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Revelation 19:6-9 (KJV)
  • Verse 8 says that the fine white linen is the representation of the saints.  This happens just before Jesus comes back to judge and rule and reign.  This is a time of great reward and Him giving us assignments for the ensuing battle.  If the catching away does not happen before this, we will not get to partake in the marriage supper of the Lamb.  We are there for this.
1 Peter 1:3-4
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
1 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV)

3) We restrain evil and darkness as long as we are here! – TOP

2 Thessalonians 2:1-8
1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself 5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
2 Thessalonians 2:1-8 (KJV)
2 Thessalonians 2:7-8
7For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world, [but it is] restrained only until he who restrains is taken out of the way.
8And then the lawless one (the antichrist) will be revealed and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of His mouth and bring him to an end by His appearing at His coming.
2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 (AMP)
  • We are the restraining force in this world because of the authority we have through Christ.  The antichrist cannot do what he is supposed to do until we are gone from the world.  We are the righteousness of God and therefore restrain the works of the devil in the earth.
Matthew 5:13-14
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:13-14 (KJV)
Matthew 28:18-19
18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matthew 28:18-19 (KJV)
Mark 16:17
7And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mark 16:17 (KJV)
  • Jesus name is greater than any force of the devil, even the antichrist, and we have been given the authority to use the name of Christ.
  • Since we have authority over all of the power of the devil and antichrist, the things that the antichrist does cannot happen unless we are gone.  That is how we know that we will not be here during that time.
Matthew 24:44-46
44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Matthew 24:44-46 (KJV)
  • That day is coming.  we need to be ready and do what he calls us to do.  We don’t want to miss that first catching away because it is going to be hell on earth when the Christians are gone.
