3 Signs of the End of Days We Must Overcome
1) Deception
2) Self centeredness and self indulgence
3) Fear and worry
Revelation 2:2626And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:Revelation 2:26 (KJV)
Matthew 16:1818And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.Matthew 16:18 (KJV)
1 John 4:3-43And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.1 John 4:3 (KJV)4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.1 John 4:4 (KJV)
- The spirit of antichrist is in the world. We can all see that. We are not trying to overcome them because we have authority, and we, as the church, are already victorious and have already overcome.
- If anyone needs to run, its the devil.
- For signs of the times, we need to see what the Bible says and not try to make the headlines conform to the Bible.
3 signs of the end of days we must overcome
1) Deception – TOP
Matthew 24:1-141And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.2And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.8All these are the beginning of sorrows.9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.Matthew 24:1-14 (KJV)
- The word deceive is used in 3 different verses in this passage in verses 4, 5, and 11. One of the things working in the world through antichrist today is the spirit of deception.
- Deceive is the Greek word Planao which means: to roam from safety, truth, or virtue; go astray, deceive or seduce.
1 Timothy 4:11Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;1 Timothy 4:1 (KJV)
- Paul is trying to make clear that their are going to be spirits of deception in the last days that are going to try to seduce people through intellectualism, philosophy, science, etc. to make people deny the truth which is the Word of God.
Ephesians 6:13-1413Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;Ephesians 6:13-14 (KJV)
- It is important for us to have the truth as the focus of our lives so as not to be deceived.
Psalms 91:44He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.Psalms 91:4 (KJV)
- The truth will stop the lies or arrows of the devil. He has a great propaganda machine, and the truth will protect us from being deceived. It is extremely important that you know what the Word says in order for it to protect you from deception.
John 17:1717Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.John 17:17 (KJV)
- The Bible is the truth. Anything that is contrary to what the Bible says is deception. If you know the truth, it will set you free. It is the first piece of the armor of God.
- There is a difference between religion and having a Christian lifestyle or behavior and being born again believing Jesus died for our sins and confessing Him as your Lord.
Colossians 2:8See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men’s ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah)Colossians 2:8 (AMP)
- The world will tell us all kinds of things are okay that the Bible says is sin. We have to stick to what the Bible says. That is why it is important for us to know the Word and not be deceived into sin. If you are not grounded in the Word (the truth), a lie can sound really convincing.
- Jesus did not come to bring a new religion. He came so we could have life and life more abundantly. He died for our sins. You don’t get to heaven by cleaning yourself up. You get to heaven by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that Jesus died and rose again.
2) Self centeredness and self indulgence – TOP
- In the times of Noah, they were so caught up in themselves they did not even realize the doors on the ark were closed until the flood waters came. That is how it is going to be again in the last days.
2 Timothy 3:1-31This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,2 Timothy 3:1-3 (KJV)
2 Timothy 3:2-3 (Amplified)2For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.3[They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.2 Timothy 3:2-3 (AMP)
- We cannot expect to take God, prayer, and Bible reading out of schools and expect to raise a moral, hard-working, and just society.
- Instead of just thinking about ourselves, we need to ask ourselves, what can we do to help spread the Gospel.
2 Corinthians 5:1515And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.2 Corinthians 5:15 (KJV)
- What did God put you here for? He has a purpose and plan for your life. If you find that, you will find peace and joy in life.
Mark 13:25-2625And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.26And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.Mark 13:25-26 (KJV)
Mark 13:33-3433Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.34For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.Mark 13:33-34 (KJV)
- We all have a calling. It is important that we do what we know we are supposed to do for God. If that just means being an example on your job, then do it. When we stand before God, the only things that are important are the things that God told us to do. That means the things in His Word and specific things he has dealt with us on.
- People should be able to tell by watching us that there is something different. They should know we are Godly men and women just by the way we carry ourselves. We are going to have to give an account of that to God.
- Live for Jesus.
3) Fear and worry – TOP
Luke 21:7-117And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?8And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.9But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.10Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:11And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.Luke 21:7-11 (KJV)
Luke 21:25-2825And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;26Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.28And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.Luke 21:25-28 (KJV)
- If you don’t know God, and you are a thinking person, then you have every reason to worry by looking at all of the things that are happening in this world. There are a lot of distressing things happening with the earth with earthquakes, volcanos, storms, tsunamis, pollution, wars, etc. The world appears to be headed for destruction. If these preceding scriptures are at all correct, there is a lot to be worried and fearful about.
- We can lift up our heads because of the truth of God’s Word. No matter what happens, God’s Word is still in effect for us.
Psalms 91:14-1614Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.Psalms 91:14-16 (KJV)
Psalms 91:77A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.Psalms 91:7 (KJV)
- For as long as we are here, we have His Word that says he will protect us. We have authority and power over the devil. We have no reason to worry because we are blessed.
Luke 10:1919Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.Luke 10:19 (KJV)
- As Christians, we have nothing to be afraid of. God is on our side. We have His Word, His truth, that overcomes all the power of the enemy in every circumstance.
- It is not because of us; it is because of our God. His truth allows us to face the future and all calamities because we are the redeemed.
